One of the movies I'm most looking forward to is Pixar's next, Inside Out. Directed by Pete Docter, who previously helmed Monsters Inc. and Up, the film goes inside the mind of a young girl (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias), personifying the emotions that ebb, flow, and erupt throughout her daily life. It's the kind of original idea that Pixar has somewhat moved away from. More recently, the studio has been more focused on sequels; even their last original movie, Brave, felt like a sort of Disney-fication of How to Train Your Dragon (and I mean that in a good way). Really, you have to go back to Up for Pixar's last truly fresh tale.
This teaser trailer gives the briefest taste of what Inside Out is going to look like, starting off by establishing common ground between all the characters of Pixar's slate (I'm most pleased at how prominently WALL-E features). The character designs look great, with a nifty, almost gritty glow to them, and the voice cast includes Amy Poehler as Joy, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, and Bill Hader as Fear. Should be a fun ride.
