Fantastic Four Teaser Trailer

Strangely, Fox has been keeping its upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four close to its chest.  It comes out this summer, and often, studios start advertising their tentpole releases way ahead of time, to start generating early buzz and get the fanboys into a general tizzy.  I'm not really sure why the studio hasn't been forthcoming with promotional materials for this one, especially when, to my eyes, it looks pretty great.

Of course, this teaser isn't much to go on.  It certainly establishes scope and tone, both of which appear to be extreme departures from the previous Fantastic Four movies (which, let it be known, I enjoy).  This brief glimpse is reminiscent of the early trailers for Interstellar and Man of Steel - much moodier and prettier than what one expects from superhero movies - but hopefully it'll turn out better than either of those.  Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell play the eponymous team, with Chronicle's Josh Trank at the helm.

The biggest mystery at this point is what the movie is actually called.  The video on Youtube is titled Fantastic Four.  The IMDb page adds an article for The Fantastic Four.  The trailer itself uses the alphanumeric mash-up Fant4stic.  There's something for the geeks to argue about.

Fantastic Four opens August 7.
