Celebrating the best movies, performances, and contributions of the year in this manner always feels a bit silly to me. Unlike other sites and blogs, there's no staff here at Such Moving Pictures. It's just me. Which is why it seems pointless to post nominees instead of just listing my personal preferences across a slew of categories. (That's why, last year, I ended up ranking each category. But I didn't really like doing it that way, either.)Nonetheless, I like writing up a list of nominees because it gives me the chance to celebrate more. And that's a good thing to do, because filmmakers around the world gave us lots to celebrate in 2014.
I didn't bother with Best Picture and Best Documentary, as you can look at the lists I've posted for those categories here and here.
