Peter Jackson is Directing "The Hobbit"

The Hobbit seems to be a cursed project, but there's finally some happy news to be had.  After Guillermo del Toro dropped out of his directing duties, there was a lot of commotion about who would take up the reins.  The most popular name, of course, was Jackson's, but after declining the role in the first place, it wasn't quite the sure thing it ought to have been (at least in this fanboy's humble opinion).  Now it's official: Jackson is taking us back to Middle-earth, and it's a good thing, too.  His post-LotR projects have been tragically underwhelming: King Kong was a bloated mess and The Lovely Bones sapped the source material of practically every good quality.  The Hobbit will hopefully--surely, I'd venture to say--be a return to form for Jackson.  Can't wait for that green-light.

Not all is well, however; Jackson is interested in converting the original trilogy into 3-D, and producing The Hobbit with an extra dimension, as well.  When will it stop?
