Albert Nobbs Trailer and Poster

Glenn Close is considered one of the frontrunners for Best Actress for her performance in Albert Nobbs, and it's easy to see why even with just the brief glimpse of her work the trailer provides (she also gets a bump from the fact that she's never won an Oscar in her illustrious career). The make-up is impressive and somewhat unsettling, but after watching the trailer a few times, I'm quite willing to suspend my disbelief and go with it. The film revolves around a woman posing as a man so she can hold a job in 19th-century Ireland, when women were discouraged from being independent.

The supporting cast includes Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass, Nowhere Boy), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, The Kids Are All Right), and Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges, Harry Potter).

The film will receive its wide release 27 January 2012, but will be released for an Oscar-qualifying run before the year's end.
