First Look: Daniel Day-Lewis is Lincoln

Steven Spielberg may have two movies coming out next month, but he's already hard at work on his next, Lincoln, which is due out in December 2012.  The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, James Spader, Hal Holbrook, and Tommy Lee Jones, among others.  Yes, it's one of the most impressive ensembles of the coming year.

Day-Lewis is one of the finest actors working today (not to mention ever, in my opinion).  His turn in There Will Be Blood is my favorite performance in all of film, and I'm excited to see what he does bringing one of our most-loved and -respected presidents to life.

Here's a first look at DDL as Lincoln.  I'm not sure what's going on with the costume.  Maybe they're just shooting his top half?  Or maybe this is some sort of make-up/lighting check?  Time will tell, I suppose.
