After the horrific debacle that was
Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton is back with two new movies this year. First up is
Dark Shadows in May, for which we've yet to see a trailer. But his second release, the stop-motion
Frankenweenie, not out until October, now has a trailer, and it looks wonderful. In gorgeous black and white and with stylized characters who look like Burton's sketches brought to life, the film is sure to be a visual delight if nothing else (I expect it will prove to be much more than just that).
Based on Burton's live-action short film of the same name,
Frankenweenie follows young Victor as he reanimates his dearly departed dog Sparky. The townspeople obviously take issue with such a monstrous creation; the trailer has a distinctly
Edward Scissorhands vibe.
The voice cast includes Martin Short, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Martin Landau.
Look for it in 2-D and 3-D October 5.
