Paul Dano reunites with his Little Miss Sunshine directors, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, on Ruby Sparks, a hip indie romance with a Stranger Than Fiction Spin. Dano plays a struggling writer who finds himself falling in love with his character, the titular Ruby. It would be a problem if she didn't exist, but suddenly - there she is, in the flesh (played by the darling Zoe Kazan, who also wrote the screenplay). The film looks like the kind of charming, quirky fare that one expects from Fox Searchlight. In other words, this movie looks right up my alley.
Ruby Sparks will receive a limited release July 25.
