It was a sad day when The Great Gatsby was delayed from its original Christmas Day release date, but considering how crowded this holiday season is shaping up to be, it was probably the right move. Now, instead of counting down the days to Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece, we're still counting down the months.
Warner Bros. has released a new poster featuring Isla Fisher's Myrtle Wilson, who is engaged in an affair with Joel Edgerton's Tom Buchanan. Meanwhile, Tom's wife Daisy (Carey Mulligan) rediscovers a lost romance with the mysterious Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), whose new neighbor/Daisy's cousin Nick (Tobey Maguire) watches it all unfold.
I love that the poster uses Fitzgerald's description of the character, and hopefully his beautiful writing makes a smooth transition to the big screen. Whether it does or not, The Great Gatsby is sure to be a gorgeous piece of cinema, and in 3-D to boot. Who'd have thought?
The Great Gatsby opens May 10, 2013.
