Directors Guild Nominations

The Directors Guild announced their nominees earlier today, and while the line-up was mostly what prognosticators expected, the fifth slot went to Tom Hooper for Les Miserables, over more-predicted alternatives like David O. Russell for Silver Linings Playbook and Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained, which hasn't been performing as well in the precursors as some expected (though it should get its share of Oscar nominations on Thursday regardless).  Hooper's inclusion shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, considering he won the DGA a couple years ago for The King's Speech.

The nominees:

Ben Affleck, Argo
Kathryn Bigelow, Zero Dark Thirty
Tom Hooper, Les Miserables
Ang Lee, Life of Pi
Steven Spielberg, Lincoln
