Mood Indigo Trailer

From director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) comes Mood Indigo (originally titled L'ecume des jours), based on the Boris Vian novel about a man who invented a cocktail-mixing piano who falls in love with a woman who has a flower growing in her lungs.  Audrey Tautou (Amelie) and Romain Duris (The Beat That My Heart Skipped) play the romantic leads, and the supporting cast includes the magnetic Omar Sy (The Intouchables), among others.

The trailer is for the film's French release, and thus lacks English subtitles, but even so, it's infectious and impossible to look away from.  Gondry is one of the most visually unique directors out there, linking disparate points of interest (a la the record and the skaters in the trailer), employing handmade aesthetic elements, and playing with concepts of space, time, and reality.  Mood Indigo looks like a fine addition to his resume.

Hopefully, Mood Indigo will pin down a US release date soon.  It opens in France April 24.
