I was a bit cold when Disney released the first trailer for Into the Woods; it drives me nuts when studios try to hide the fact that their musicals are musicals (though, hey, it worked out alright for Frozen). But this new trailer for the Christmas release, directed by Chicago helmer Rob Marshall, atones for its predecessor's sins, featuring a nice sample of the music and showing more of the characters, including a proper look at Johnny Depp's bizarre-looking Wolf.
Meryl Streep sounds really lovely here, even better than she did in Mamma Mia!, and the whole cast looks to be delivering. I'm most excitted for Anna Kendrick as a disillusioned Cinderella. Happily Ever After isn't quite what they advertise, eh?
James Corden, Chris Pine, and Emily Blunt also star in what looks to be a perfect choice for holiday viewing. It's gotta be lightyears better than Annie, yeah?
