Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

I've posted a few times with nuggets of news about Marc Webb's forthcoming relaunch of the Spider-Man franchise, and throughout, my thoughts have been thoroughly tinged with optimism.  After seeing this first shot of Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) in costume, though, my excitement has shot far off the scales.  It looks like Webb is spinning a grittier tale, which isn't what I at all expected (I thought it'd be a more stylized affair, a la the Ultimate universe).  Between this, Joss Whedon's The Avengers, Darren Aronofsky's The Wolverine, and The Dark Knight Rises, 2012 may be the best year for superhero movies ever.  In fact, I'll be surprised if it isn't.
