War Horse Trailer

This trailer has been floating around out there for at least a month, but after seeing it yet again before J. Edgar tonight, I can't help but post it here for your viewing pleasure. It's impossible to deny the Oscar-y-ness of it all - this looks like Spielberg at his most sentimental, and I am utterly sold. The music is gorgeous and apparently played right on the heartstrings, and it looks like the story has as much scope as it has emotional pluck, which is great.

Having never been to the Big Apple, I haven't gotten to see War Horse on stage, but it seems to me like this is a theatrical piece that will benefit from coming to the big screen.

With a Christmas Day release (it's already been chosen as my family's Christmas movie), War Horse will likely find plenty of commercial and critical success on its way to the Oscars. With the exception of The Artist, War Horse may be the strongest Best Picture contender out there (he said, having seen very few of the biggest contenders). But that's a thought for another post. For now, (re)visit the mildly bait-y War Horse:
