To Rome With Love Trailer

Woody Allen's follow-up to his wonderful Midnight in Paris takes him to Rome.  The film previously known as The Bop Decameron and Nero Fiddled (both far more interesting titles) recently settled on the universally understandable To Rome With Love.  I've been waiting with bated breath for a look at the star-studded film, and thankfully, it looks like all is well.  You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, this is not.  I hope.

However, the film may be more like YWMaTDS in its form than Midnight in Paris or Vicky Cristina Barcelona.  Rather than focus on one central narrative, To Rome With Love employs multiple story-lines for its characters, chronicling the adventures and romances they encounter in the beautiful city.  I expect there may be some overlap between some of the stories, but only time will tell.  I'm sure all the members of the ensemble were dying to share the screen with Allen, who acts for the first time since his 2006 murder caper Scoop. To Rome With Love also marks a return for Roberto Benigni, who won an Oscar for Life is Beautiful and has all-but-disappeared since.  Rounding out the cast are Jesse Eisenberg, Alec Baldwin, Greta Gerwig, Penelope Cruz (whom Allen directed to an Oscar for Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Allison Pill, Ellen Page, and Judy Davis.

To Rome With Love gets a limited release June 22.
