Many of the biggest movies of the rest of the year are based on existing properties, from comics (The Dark Knight Rises) to books (The Great Gatsby) to musicals (Les Miserables), so it's exciting to have such an exciting-looking, fresh story on the horizon.
Writer-director Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) is once again collaborating with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has four (!) movies coming out this year. In Looper, JGL is nigh unrecognizable. The make-up is superb and the voice sounds just like Bruce Willis. The time travel hitman concept is great, and the movie looks like it'll be satisfying in both its narrative and action.
This recent trailer gives a strong sense of the world of the film, and gives more screentime to supporting players Emily Blunt and Jeff Daniels.
Looper hits theaters September 28.
