Merry Christmas from Such Moving Pictures (and Jimmy Stewart)

The holidays are here, and as such, I've been taking something of a break from posting as much on here, as I spend time with friends and family and celebrate.  One of the best parts of being on break is getting to watch lots of movies for fun, as opposed to for class, and I've basically melted into the armchair as I've watched movies ranging from Tiny Furniture to The Deep Blue Sea to Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.  Last night, I took part in watching one of my all-time favorite movies, and the most joyous holiday movie ever made, It's a Wonderful Life.

No movie makes me cry like Frank Capra's classic, earnest tale of a man who wishes he had never been born, then gets to see just what that world would look like.  Jimmy Stewart it at his most charming but also gets to explore the darkness that leads George Bailey to stand on that fateful bridge on Christmas Eve night.  George feels like he's a big fish in a small pond, but by movie's end, he finds that he's perfectly sized for the tight-knit community of Bedford Falls.  He's the richest man in town.

Lest I start crying just thinking about that final scene, I'll sign off with wishes for a happy holiday season to all of my readers and fellow movie lovers.  Hopefully, you'll find the time to indulge in some familial movie viewing, and if you're hard-pressed to choose what to watch, perhaps Stewart's deliriously happy cries of "Merry Christmas!" will persuade you.
