Amanda Seyfried, who is currently wowing in Les Miserables, stars as porn star Linda Lovelace in Lovelace, from directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (Howl). The film makes its debut at Sundance this week, where it will hopefully find a distributor. The cast also includes Peter Sarasgaard, James Franco, Adam Brody and Juno Temple, among many others.
Based on this clip, it's hard to gauge how the film will play, or even if Seyfried will bring much gravity to the character; Lovelace was coerced by a violent husband into porn, starred in Deep Throat, and later became involved in the anti-pornography movement. It's quite a story, and Seyfried - while certainly a talent - may not have yet developed the acting chops to tackle such a complex character.
Regardless, Seyfried playing a porn star is alright with me, and the rest of the world's men, I'd assume.
