Finally, the trailer for Steven Spielberg's much-anticipated Lincoln is here, and it looks every bit as epic, every bit as Oscar-baity, every bit as great as we'd hoped. The trailer makes room to give glimpses of much of the incredible supporting cast, including Sally Field, Hal Holbrook, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Jackie Earle Haley, but the main attraction is Daniel Day-Lewis's take on the most beloved president of all time.
It should be an amazing performance, as the chameleonic Day-Lewis always delivers. The voice isn't what I expected; for some reason, I imagined it a little deeper, but I have faith in DDL.
What with the music, the trailer's a bit reminiscent of Spielberg's last period piece Oscar bait, War Horse, but I believe Lincoln will be much better, and actually worthy of all the attention it will undoubtedly receive.
Lincoln gets a limited release November 9, and will expand to theaters nationwide November 16.
